Remedy by David Crowder BandBy Adam McLane Dr. Pepper. Ted Nugent. Squirrels. Banjos. World change. What do these things have in common? Remedy by David Crowder Band. For the band, this much anticipated release is also the proclamation of a new challenge for the band. They challenge audience members to infect positive change in their communities and around the world in the name of Christ. Remedy confronts the most common critique of Christian music--that it is too happy--with a mission-driven body of work that is sure to set the Christian music world on fire.

Listen to a sample of  "Everything Glorious" by David Crowder Band

Remedy is different from the band's previous release, A Collision, in some striking ways. Most notably it only features 10 tracks. However, this doesn't short-change the album, which features more traditional, usable format with industry standard song endings perfect for those who listen to one track versus the entire album. In other words, if the odd noises on the beginning of tracks on the previous DCB albums drove you and your iPod crazy,  that annoyance has been fixed for Remedy. Likewise, there are some new studio sounds and effects which listeners will greatly enjoy. Most notably, the Motor City Madman Ted Nugent, with his signature soaring electric guitar on three up-tempo songs, "We Won't Be Quiet," "Neverending," and "Can You Feel It?" Also heavily featured in this album are two new studio versions of songs previously other formats. Already climbing the radio charts is the album's debut single, "Everything Glorious" joining "For the Glory of It All" from Passion '06, as well as "Rain Down" from the bands album, All I Can Say.

Remedy by David Crowder BandIt seems that David Crowder Band has two audiences. There are those who have seen him live and those who have not. For those who are fans of the band's live performances the new anthem of this album will be "We Won't Be Quiet." As I first listened to the song my mind could envision the exhilaration of shouting the songs lyrics with thousands of my closest friends. For those who have not yet seen the band, let me just point you to their Remedy Tour. (link:http://www.davidcrowderband.com/schedule/) As good as this album is, David Crowder Band needs to be seen live to truly appreciate the tremendous talent and depth of their work.

Remedy by David Crowder Band What is most striking about Remedy is just how clear DCB remains true to their roots. As notoriety and awards are placed on various artists you start to see the "Nashvillification" of a band's sound and they seem to wander away from the audience that brought them the notoriety and awards. At the heart of this album is the worship leader, David Crowder. Crowder and his band are still regular worship leaders at their home church, University Baptist Church in Waco. In songs such as, "O, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing" and "Everything Glorious" the innovation of studio effects merely enhance the overall worship experience. At the same time, Remedy also features the fun and exuberance that has made the band incredibly popular with young adults and students.

Few albums are as anticipated as Remedy and just as few live up to the hype as well as Remedy. This album is significant in its intent, brilliant in its mastering, inspiring in its creativity, and redefines what it means to be a worship album.
